You’re Heading To Juliet Melbourne!

Your last stop is presented by Juliet Melbourne, one of Melbourne’s most sought after wine bars. They have created an amazing wine experience available only to AmazingCo customers!

Juliet Melbourne is all about championing arts and culture. They showcase it by their choice of music, the art work on the walls and even their menu items. They have a huge vinyl selection and you can even bring your own jazz inspired records to play and add to the ambiance!

This dimly lit underground haven was named to remember and cherish a bygone era. The adjoining laneways (Liverpool and Crossley Streets) were once called Juliet Terrace and Romeo Lane. Ah, so romantic! The names were changed in the late 1800s, in an attempt to gentrify an area frequented in the past by ‘women and men of the night’. Scandal!

Head in and let them know that your name and that you are here with AmazingCo. Here you will be indulging in a custom wine tasting paired with delicious food.

THE ITALIAN STALLION

2017 La La Land - Vermentino

Our first wine is the 2017 La La land - Vermentino from Murray Darling, Victoria.

The Vermentino grape is indigenous to Sardinia in Sicily where it is planted on the side of Mt. Etna
and is known for the minerality it gains due to the volcanic soil (so it must be healthy!).
Next time you’re in Sicily, you know which wine to get!

Polenta Chips

We have paired this rich wine with Juliet’s speciality polenta Chips with black garlic aioli.

Why they are the perfect pair

The sweet pungency of the black aioli with the crunchy creaminess of the polenta match this wine brilliantly cutting through the acidity and bringing out the fruit flavours of this wine.

THE ALL NATURAL SENSATION

2018 Amarit Chardonnay

Our next wine is the fresh and natural 2018 Amarit Chardonnay from Mornington, Victoria.

This is a classic Chardonnay! It’s medium bodied, there's ample richness to the fleshy white peach, ripe nectarine and dried honey flavours which impart a creamy textural feel to the palate. You’ll also taste elements of smoky gun flint, biscuity oak and spicy nougat.

Fried Arancini Rice Balls

We have paired this with a delicious house-made fried arancini rice ball accompanied with a roasted sweet pepper coulis.

Why they are the perfect pair

The nuttiness and minerality in this wine compliment the sweet smokiness of the arancini ball. The eggplant and tomato are not too intrusive for the taste of the wine and they allow the creaminess of the wine to come out. See if can taste the mix of sweetness and the mineral finish on your palate.

THE UNDERDOG
To the right

2017 La La Land Malbec

Our final tasting is the new “it” wine on the block, the 2017 La La Land Malbec from Murray Darling, Victoria.

Malbec was neglected for decades in France as a lesser blending grape. Argentina believed in the wine and resurrected the Malbec and championed it to make it an excellent single varietal!

Malbec has now made a massive splash in Australia and is currently the “must try” wine for many wine lovers!

House Marinated Olives

We have paired this wine with Mount Zero house marinated olives from the Grampians in Victoria.

The Mount Zero olive grove is one of the oldest groves in Australia. It is still family run with a great philosophy! They aim to respect the environment, the people of the region and the customers that consume their goods. Juliet uses a mixture of their olives and house marinate them in oil with citrus, aromatics and spices including star anise, coriander and fennel seeds and cinnamon.

Why they are the perfect pair

You will find that the fruit in this wine softens the sharp, salty flavours in the olives, while the aromatics in the marinade bring out a rounded flavour in the wine.

See if you can taste the aromatics of black cherry, plum and violets with a spicy mocha background in the wine.
