Pre Adventure Fun

Enjoy these themed activities before setting off on your Wilderness Adventure Day!

Activity 1

5 - 15 minutes
Equipment: paper and pen

What’s your wilderness warrior name?

Every wilderness warrior needs an awesome nickname! Before you head out on your adventure, sit down together and create your nicknames and warrior backstories.

Step 1: Choose your name

Combine wild action words with animals, elements or tools. If you’re stuck, here are a few examples to get you started!

  • Brave Fox Thunder

  • Howling Storm Heart

  • Shadow Fang

Step 2: Create your story

Write a short story about your warrior character’s skills, adventures, and how they got their name.

Optional step 3: Go the extra mile

Wear an accessory like a hat or beads or make a prop that leans into your wilderness warrior character. Let your imaginations run wild!

Activity 2

As long as you like
Equipment: phone

Roadtrip playlist!

Kick off your wilderness adventure by creating a Spotify playlist together. Each family member can add up to 5 empowering, or outdoor-inspired songs, from bangers like "Roar” by Katy Perry to Disney favourites from The Lion King, Tarzan or Jungle Book.

Once your upbeat playlist is set, play it in the car and let the tunes fuel your journey as you embark on your wilderness adventure!

Activity 3

10 minute game
Equipment: none

Desert island survival kit!

This is a game to play in the car and throughout your Adventure Day.

How to play:

Imagine you’re stranded on a desert island—what would you need to survive? One person thinks of an item they would pack in their island survival kit. But here’s the twist! You can’t say the name of the item—just give clues about what it’s used for!

For example, you might say:
“It helps you catch fish for dinner.” (Hint: It’s a fishing rod!)

The rest of the group tries to guess what the item is! The first person to guess it right gets a turn to think of the next mystery item.

Pro Tips for Parents:

Keep the clues simple and fun—let the kids think big and get creative! You can use hints like:

  • “It keeps you dry when it rains!” (umbrella)

  • “You sleep in it under the stars!” (tent)

  • “It can cut through the jungle!” (machete)

  • Mix it up: If the guessing is too easy, try acting out the item instead of giving clues—like a mini-game of charades!
