What’s your pirate name?
Every pirate needs an awesome nickname! Before you head out on your adventure, sit down together and create your nicknames and warrior backstories.
Step 1: Choose your name
Combine wild action words with animals, elements or tools. If you’re stuck, here are a few examples to get you started!
Brave Fox Thunder
Howling Storm Heart
Shadow Fang
Step 2: Create your story
Write a short story about your pirate character’s skills, adventures, and how they got their name.
Optional step 3: Go the extra mile
Wear an accessory like a pirate hat, eye patch or skull and bones clothes. Feeling crafty? Make your own wearable pirate hat!
Activity 2
As long as you like
Equipment: phone
Adventure Day playlist!
Kick off your pirate adventure by creating a Spotify playlist together. Each family member can add up to 5 pirate-inspired songs, like "Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)", "A Pirate’s Song" by The Wiggles, or favourites from the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, such as "He’s a Pirate" or "Hoist the Colours". Sprinkle in sea shanties like "The Wellerman" and classic sailor tunes like "Bound for South Australia" to keep the pirate vibes alive.
Once your playlist is set, blast it in the car or pop in your earbuds while cruising on the ferry. Arrr you ready!?
Activity 3
10 minute game

Pirate Games!
Memory Chain Game – Pirate Edition:
While you’re sailing the high seas (or cruising in the car!), play Pirate Memory Chain. Start with one player saying, “I’m a pirate and I can [action].” The next player repeats the sentence and adds a new action. Each player keeps repeating the full sequence of actions while adding their own, until someone forgets or messes it up. The game continues until only one pirate remains who can recall the entire sequence without fail. They’re the winner and crowned the Pirate Captain!
Arrrhh Talk Game:
On your voyage, whenever anyone speaks, they must begin their sentence with “Arrrhh!” Whether you’re asking questions, telling tales of treasure, or giving orders, start with “Arrrhh…” and get ready for lots of laughs and pirate shenanigans!
