The model behind Rising Sun Workshop has been community funded to date and was
designed to survive independently (for-profit) while mandating to invest back into the
community that supports it. The driving mission behind RSW is to actively involve its community
in the evolution of the business and workshop.

Did you know that in Japan, slurping your noodles or soup is considered a sign of
appreciation to the chef? That’s pretty common knowledge BUT who knew that
Sushi didn’t originate in Japan?!

The art of sushi making originated along the Mekong River in Southeast Asia over 2,000 years ago,
finally making its way into Japanese culture in approximately the 8th century. Japanese are
proud of their craft and traditionally, it took 10 years of training before one could become a sushi chef.
Now, modern sushi chefs can begin working after two years of training.
